It’s ‘Get Online Week’ 14-20 Oct 2019. Here at My Geek Mate, I’m hosting free morning tea.

Ask any questions about technology, especially – ‘how to get online’. If you want to you can sign up for a free Australian Government-funded digital literacy workshop.

Get Online Week returns to reduce the digital divide in Australia

More than 2.5 million Australians are currently not online, with a further 4 million having limited digital skills.

On Monday October 14, Get Online Week 2019 launches in Australia kicking off a week of more than 1000 events taking place around the country to provide support for people wishing to improve their digital skills.

Local organisation, My Geek Mate is getting involved in the digital inclusion campaign by hosting a Get Online Week event Monday to Friday 9:30am to 11am for 14th – 18th October 2019

Organised by Good Things Foundation, Get Online Week aims to help Australians improve their digital skill set, and reduce the digital divide. Taking place from October 14-20, 2019, the week will provide opportunities at a local level for people seeking support, whether they’ve never been online before, or can do a little but wish to do more.

“As Government and corporate services are increasingly moving online, whether you want to pay a bill, access customer support or book an appointment, you need digital skills. Digital literacy is also essential for our country’s economic prosperity, for people seeking employment, or staying connected to loved ones overseas,” said Jess Wilson, National Director, Good Things Foundation. “Get Online Week helps to ensure that no one gets left behind in our digital world.”
