For years I’ve wanted to convert my old mothballed Mac Pro tower into some furniture. A friend swapped the working graphics card for another mothballed Mac Pro tower. I asked around and people said it would be very tricky and require a custom-built router bit to be made.
However, in the end, my neighbour Dash said he’d give it a go, he loves projects like this. We went to the Timber Slab Factory in Mullum and found a great bit of camphor laurel timber.
We got them to cut it to size and Dash used an electric planer to carve the compound curves by eye. Then another neighbour also with lots of woodworking experience lent me a sander and explained the process. After lots of sanding and some oil, I’m very happy with the final piece!
